The doctor will carefully review your medical records and examine your medical history. This will tell you what treatment you can expect. He will answer any questions you may have. Arrange any further tests you need. For example, CT, MR or PET/CT/MR. We have all this available in one place (Imaging Diagnostics Department, Medicopus Nonprofit Ltd.). You can schedule an appointment within 1-2 weeks, preferably on the same day. In case of combined (chemo-radio) therapy, chemotherapy is also agreed upon, which is done at the Clinical Oncology Department of SM Kaposi Mór Teaching Hospital (Tallián Gyula utca 20-32). No treatment is given for the first time (except in life-threatening cases). Treatment requires careful preparation, as high doses are delivered to the tumour with amazing precision. Therefore, a CT scan is required in the position in which the radiation treatment will be given. On this basis, we will plan your treatment. Depending on the type of tumour being treated, this may be done on the day of the outpatient scan or booked for a later date. If possible, this will be in conjunction with the diagnostic test.

What is radiotherapy and what preparation is required for treatment?siteadmin2024-08-02T13:52:30+00:00

What is radiotherapy and what preparation is required for treatment?

Ionising radiation is used to destroy tumour cells. However, with proper preparation and the use of modern irradiation techniques, intact organs and tissues can be extremely well protected. Therefore, a CT scan is required in the position in which the radiotherapy will be carried out. We will plan your treatment on this basis. The CT scan is not unpleasant. It is usually not necessary to inject contrast material. The purpose of the scan is not to identify your condition but to plan your treatment. It is important that you remain in the same position at all times during radiotherapy, so a photograph of your body position will be taken during the planned CT scan and your positioning will be documented. During the planning CT, you should lie still and relax your muscles, not contract them. You can take your usual medication before the scan! If you agree, we will use cosmetic tattooing to mark the skin. This is highly recommended as it improves your daily alignment. The treatment will then be based on these markings (this will be the starting point, you will receive the final embossing during the treatment).

How is radiotherapy delivered?siteadmin2024-08-02T13:51:11+00:00

How is radiotherapy delivered?

You will receive 3-5 treatments a week, either as a ward stay or with daily visits. Patient transport can be arranged on request. You must arrive on time. You only need to bring the small treatment card you received at the outpatient clinic. This must be signed out at reception. The treatment will involve minimal inconvenience. You have to lie down on the treatment table in the same way as for a CT scan. The treatment is safe and quick. It takes about 10 minutes (about 30 minutes for a complex treatment), during which time you have to lie still and relax. During the treatment, a CT or rtg scan is taken first, which is used to precisely position the treatment area. This allows for precise adjustment. This allows high doses to be delivered. Intact tissue and organs can be protected to the maximum extent. Side effects are reduced. The duration of the treatment may vary, it may feel longer, but you will receive the same treatment every day. The machine will rotate around you but will not touch you. Vaginal proximity therapy involves the use of radioactive isotopes, which are delivered to the area to be treated using plastic cylinders or cylinders inserted into the vagina. The procedure is well tolerated and requires no special preparation or anaesthesia. The treatment is usually done every other day and does not require hospitalisation. Treatment of cervical tumours is carried out using a tiny radioactive substance, which is delivered directly into or near the tumour using special hollow proximity therapy devices (applicators) and needles, using remote control. This technique allows a very high radiation therapy dose to be delivered directly to the tumour, while reducing the radiation exposure to the surrounding normal tissue. Skin care. In summer, use high sunscreen (minimum factor 50), stay in the shade. Swimming in swimming pools or natural waters is not prohibited during the treatment, but avoid using saunas and thermal baths for 6 weeks after the treatment. For your own safety, avoid smoking and drinking alcohol both during and after treatment. Smoking increases the risk of both late side effects and cancer recurrence. You will see your doctor regularly during your treatment. You should always report any complaints at these check-ups, as symptomatic treatment can only be prescribed on this basis. In the event of a sudden, unexpected complaint or feeling unwell, you should seek emergency help. Please contact your doctor or a member of our team if you have a need for this.

["post-1592","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
